Being a Friend to the Feathered: Creating Bird-Friendly Landscapes

Join us on Friday, August 29 for a feather-friendly presentation by Horticultural Intern, Mariah Magee.
Humans have long been fascinated with winged avian. We welcome them to our gardens with birdhouses and feeders and watch them eagerly through binoculars as a hobby. Despite our love for birds, their populations have been declining at an alarming rate for decades now– we’ve lost an estimated 3 billion since 1970 alone.
In “Being a Friend to the Feathered”, Mariah will explain how anyone can make their home more appealing to birds and how we can use native plants to provide food and forage for our flighted friends. Following a brief slideshow, join us in the garden for some live-action birding! We will provide a few pairs of binoculars, but BYOB if you can. Time to bird up!
